I wasn't sure if I would make a Friday deadline as my computer was off being fixed. I suddenly realised it was almost a year old and if I wanted my DVD/CD drive fixed under warranty it would have to be NOW. I was computerless for 18 hours. Dear Reader, I am addicted to the facility of the Internet. I had the constant, unfulfilled urge to check a pattern, a recipe, who that woman in Vera was and how Would I Lie To You? could be so terribly bad and what was the phone number of the pharmacy at the Hospital??
The computer is back, safe and sound and with a compliment dust and dog hair clean!!!
I saw these dog treat biscuits in the Spring Family Circle. I am so glad they are having more frequent issues.
Quick, easy, healthy, cheap to make and according to Peri and Gilly: delicious beyond belief. They were obedient enough to sit wait while I took a photo and then they devoured the biscuits. They didn't even need a command!!
I can report I still have ten fingers. It's quite hard to snap a photo with one hand, whilst making sure the other hand isn't nipped. Gilly's mouth is full of biscuit and I love her whiskers!!! Peri is ever so careful and delicate.
I followed the spirit of the recipe: I used the whole box of spinach instead of 2/3 and I used an egg-white instead of water.
Spinach Biscuit Treats for Labradors makes 15-20
- 160g (I used 240g) of frozen chopped spinach, defrosted
- 150g wholemeal plain flour
- 120g rolled oats
- 3 tbspns Parmesan cheese, finely grated
- 1/4 cup of water OR an egg-white
Preheat the oven to 160* (140* fan forced) and line two trays with baking paper.
Mix all the ingredients together. I actually found my hands worked best of all. I squelched the spinach into the dry ingredients.
I used an ice-cream scoop to measure out 9 scoops. I halved these and rolled them into balls and flattened them between my palms.
Bake for 20 minutes. Cool on a wire rack. They will last for 3 days in an airtight container (Ha!! not in our house) and freeze very well.

Oh, I bet you are currently the best Mama in the universe according to the Labs! Happy dog hair free computering and catching up on all those things. I am similarly obsessed, thankfully I have an iphone which can do pretty much everything the computer can when you are not near your computer. So handy!

I love that you make such healthy treats for your girls! They are very lucky to have you.
I know exactly what you mean about not having a computer - however did we survive before the Internet, with all those sorts of queries!
